MAIN PROBLEMS:-

Truck radiators are the most common rebuilt item that comes through our workshop due to the road conditions of today causing a lot of premature failure of many items just like the radiator, intercooler and condenser. This is mainly caused by vibration, rubber supports, mounts wearing and cracking not to mention the horse power of today's trucks and the load rating they carry takes its toll on items such as the radiator and the intercooler which are both constantly going from hot to cold all the time.
What this causes is thermal expansion in the join between two joint materials to what we call tube to headers causing either loss of coolant or loss of air, ( insert picture below )

Hi-Tech Radiators are more then capable of repairing these problems but are not a guaranteed repair. Normally we do just enough too allow the customer time to keep running his truck until they are able too afford a new more improved Hi-Tech replacement, that we can supply with all the improvements needed to handle today's working conditions here in Australia.
We supply a 5yr / 1 million km warranty. With over 70 part number & growing. We can turn around a Charge air cooler replacement within the day with ease with a network of shops & freight to get to & from your workshop.
Other reoccurring problems in trucks is cracking of plastic top tanks know more commonly to happen to late models that come out as original equipment with plastic top and bottom tanks with an aluminium core, This is mainly done because those two materials are cheaper then cooper and brass also far more lighter giving them allowance for more trailer load capacity. When a plastic top tank cracks and the rest of the core is still ok we then give you the customer a couple of options other then just replacing the complete radiator that can become quiet costly at times.

These options consist of-

1. Fabricate a new brass or alloy tank to suit the core depending on what material the core is made out of in thicker enough material then is manually folded and tig welded around the out side of the tank then brazed on the inside's for extra support and strength. ( shown in picture left)
2. Fabricate both the top and the bottom tanks to suit core. This will only be done if one of Hi-Techs experienced staff members believes they may be any issues in the near future with the bottom tank cracking as well. Normally this does not happen because the temperature hits inlet tank or better know as the top tank, even if it is a cross flow or a vertical flow fast at about 20 - 30 degrees hotter then the bottom/outlet tank allowing the heat in the water to decay and harden the plastic as the top. The way we can tell if a tank is close to cracking is looking for slight fractures in cracks in the plastic, discolouration of tank or once the tank has been removed from core and is found too be very hard when you squeeze it. That's when we replace both tanks.
3. Another option would to be replace top and bottom tanks with also the core to suit this will give you the customer a good warranty and peace of mind knowing that your truck radiator has been fully replaced, using thicker more robust materials made from Australian companies that know and understands Australia s climate and road conditions.
Other problems that can occur on trucks is header tanks or better know as overflow bottles cracking or corroding weather they are made out of alloy, plastic or steel Hi-Tech Radiators can either repair or remanufacture a new tank out of stronger more robust material as shown in the picture below.

This particular tank is of a Mack Vision and has had numerous problems with the plastic cracking so Hi-Tech fabricated a alloy header tank with more internal support and a thicker material and saving money from an original item pricing. The other picture shown below is of a Western Star cab over which also had a lot of problems with vibration and the cabin rubbing on the tank. ( HDTKWES002 )This picture shows the difference between the new alloy header tank and the old original equipment plastic one,

Also a picture of the new alloy header tank fitted to the Western Star cab over truck allowing all the same hoses and connections.

SERVICE

Century1 = This is a a newly fabricated alloy header tank off a freightliner century c120 truck where original was plastic and only lasting average period off 12 months which is far from the life expectancy off the newly fabricated alloy tank with a life expectancy off 5+ years.

Century 89kb= As seen in this picture the alloy tank has been made with also a great finish and no major 90 degree folds which can act as weak points this header tank has also had extra internal supports put in to allow for thermal expansion.

Eagle = This header tank is an alloy copy off an original plastic header tank off a international eagle where the o/e plastic tanks are cracking prematurely from heat under the bonnet and vibration cracking mounting areas so pay the extra and get what you expect from one off hi-techs perfectly hand fabricated truck header tanks.

Hi-Tech Radiators are also one of the very few radiator repair shops that will remove radiators , intercoolers, condensers, heat exchangers and fuel trucks from trucks do what needs to be done diagnose any further problems and reinstall back into the truck checking over cooling system , air conditioning and any other items that may have problems.

Hi-Tech Radiators can also cleanout and repair truck fuel tanks weather it has particles in it or fuel bug inside even if it has been dented or split a weld Hi-Tech can fix the problem.

Trucks are also know for having intercooler and turbo failures very often the turbo fails because the intercooler has got leaks and without a closed air circuit the propeller over spools and disintegrates and leaves propeller fragments all through the intercooler as well as oil causing a blockage through the turbulator where the air is ment to pass through. Many companies sell only a extruded tube allowing the air to pass through the tube too quickly not allowing the internal air flow to stay in front of the ambient air temperature giving the hot air inside the intercooler more time to cool down, And for the engine to stay at suitable temperature extruded tubes are also more know to not handle thermal heat expansion which is when the aluminium goes hot to cold and starts cracking around the tube where it enters into the header plate where the tank is welded to.
Hi-Tech Radiators supply its own range of heavy duty plate and bar intercoolers where it has a far superior internal turbulator allowing maximum cooling of the air allowing for better boost meaning more consistent horsepower and better fuel consumption, not to mention less change of thermal heat expansion considering the plate and bar intercooler is built and constructed in such a way the core handles maximum pressure and temperature without the tubes cracking from the header plate.
The picture below shows the two different intercooler cores internal air passage- First picture is the extruded tube and the second is the heavy duty plate and bar style.
